Viernes de Dolores (Friday before Good Friday) On this day, one can see altars with offerings to the Virgin of Sorrows (Virgen de Dolores) in houses and mines (she is the patron of miners). In the town square Jardín de la Unión, crowds of young people walk around the square in the traditional "paseo of flowers", the young men giving flowers to the young women.

Opening of the floodgates at the reservoir Presa de la Olla (first Monday in July) Popular fiesta. The reservoir floodgates are opened in order to flush clean the Guanajuato River. This fiesta has become a tradition for local residents.
Cave Day (July 31) Popular celebration in honor of St. Ignatius of Loyola, consisting of a fiesta at the base of the hills called Cerro de los Picachos.
Day of the taking of the Alhondiga de Granaditas (September 28). Civic and military parade to commemorate the taking of the Spanish stronghold Alhondiga de Granaditas and the heroic feat of El Pípila, who burnt down the door of the Alhondiga to defeat the Spanish army.

Sugar-figure fair (last week of October and first days of November) Fair vendors make and sell a wide variety of figures made of sugar. The sugar skulls are the most common, because of their role in the Day of the Dead (November 2).
